About & sources
Local decisions.
Less decoding.
An independent, unofficial, fully sourced plain-language guide to City of Kelowna Council meetings. No party affiliations, no endorsements, no editorials about what Council should do.
Who publishes this
kelownaunpacked.ca summarizes City of Kelowna Council and Planning and Development meetings in plain language, so residents can understand what was decided without watching hours of video. It does not endorse or oppose any position, and it takes no stance on the issues Council considers — it only reports them, each with a citation.
The site is independently operated. It is not affiliated with the City of Kelowna, any candidate, campaign, political party, or organization. It receives no funding, sponsorships, or grants. It runs no advertising, and nothing here is paid for, reviewed, or approved by the City or any third party.
It is published by a Kelowna resident who chooses not to be named — deliberately and permanently. That is not a shield; it is the point. A civic guide should be judged by the accuracy and fairness of its information, not by who publishes it. Every claim on this site is sourced and verifiable, and every meeting is held to the same standard. The only question that matters about any line here is whether it is true and fair — not who assembled it.

Editorial standard
- Every factual claim carries a citation to a verifiable public source — the City’s official agendas, minutes, or meeting video.
- Decisions are reported as they were recorded in the official minutes; where the record is incomplete or a source is blocked, that gap is flagged rather than filled by inference.
- A summary is published only after it completes research and editorial review against this standard. Summaries still in progress are not published.
- Errors are corrected visibly: substantive corrections are noted on the page, not silently edited away.
